The simplest method possible
You want to add some text
- Scroll to the bottom of the relevant page.
- If there is a comment box there, type your text and click "Post It".
- If there isn't a comment box, click "Discuss". You can then create a new post.
- Your text will appear in the comments section at the bottom of the page. A moderator may copy it into the body of the page if appropriate.
You want to add a picture (or other file)
- Scroll to the bottom of the relevant page.
- Click "Files".
- You may now upload a file from your computer.
- Your file will be downloadable by clicking "Files". A moderator may copy it into the body of the page if appropriate.
Editing the body of the page
- Start by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking "Edit".
- You may utilize the buttons for easy editing such as adding a table, making text bold, or inserting images.
- If you prefer to insert your own code, here is a quick guide and the full list of Wikidot codes. Commonly used features are described below as well.
Inserting a link
Adding citations
- You can read about the code here.
- Alternatively, to use the toolbar:
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Edit".
- In the text edit box, click on the location that you would like to create a citation. It will look like [1] (or whatever number you are on; it will calculate this automatically).
- Click the [n] button in the Edit toolbar.
- This text will pop up where your cursor was:
[((bibcite label))] - Replace "label" with a name, such as "hossein" (it can be anything you like).
- Scroll to the end of the editable text (i.e. scroll all the way down in the edit box).
- If there is not already a bibliography there, in the Edit toolbar, click the Bib button.
- You will see this text appear:
[[bibliography]]
: label : full source reference
[[/bibliography]] - Replace "label" with "hossein" or whatever name you chose previously.
- Replace "full source reference" with the way the citation should look. Here is an example.
- Repeat the process to add a different citation. When you add new references to the bibliography at the bottom of the page, it will look like this:
- You're done! You can reference "hossein" again at another point in the page. In this example, two of the references have been used twice.
